On April 5, 2025 the panel was installed in Peace United Methodist Church in Morristown Minnesota. It is fitted into a custom made lightbox that is secured on the wall.
First Light.... the first time I am seeing the piece all together and back lit! After both sides are soldered then I scrubbed both sides and added black patina. From first cuts in August of 2024 until installation on April 5th.... this work bench has rarely been empty.
All the water is cut as well as the reeds and cattails the make up the bedding area for mama and her fawn. Karla took the deer home to try her painting skills on glass and I think she did an amazing job. Some of these cold January evenings have kept me inside rather than in my studio so I began foiling pieces. With almost 800 pieces to individually wrap in copper foil tape. It will be awhile.
Progress as of September 2024
The sun is made from glass from a broken lamp that was given to the churches paster by a parishioner. Much of the glass that makes up the sky is built with glass that was originally in the church. They updated the windows in the spring of 2024. The piece will have 3 cardinals hidden in the pine trees.
Shopping in Sleepy Eye for the perfect glass.
